One dead in Jacksonville's 3rd police shooting

March 29, 2011
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

JACKSONVILLE (AP) - Two Jacksonville officers are on standard administrative leave following the city's third police-involved shooting this month.

One person was killed in the latest shooting.

Authorities say a man refused to drop a sword he was carrying when officers approached him Tuesday morning. Police fired two Taser shots at him, but the man pulled the sword out of his trench coat and got into an officer's car. The officers then fired shots through the windshield. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further information has been released about the shooting.
