Spring Training tops 1 million attendance

With the completion of six afternoon Florida Spring Training games Friday, total attendance topped one million for the current season.

With 159 games played since Feb. 26, total attendance stands at 1,013,753. Two night games, in Port Charlotte and Sarasota, will push the total even higher.

The average attendance of the 159 games played at 14 locations throughout Florida stands at 6,375, according to totals compiled by the Florida Sports Foundation, the state's official sports promotion and development organization.

The 15 Florida Grapefruit League teams have a total of 81 games remaining on the schedule through March 30.

Florida Spring Training provides the state with a $753 million economic impact, according to a survey compiled by The Bonn Research Marketing Group, Inc.
