REPORTS: MARATHON BOMBING SUSPECT'S FRIEND MADE THREATS

A friend of one of the Boston marathon bomb suspects threatened an FBI agent and a Massachusetts state trooper with a long pole and was fatally shot by the agent after he'd agreed to give a statement about his involvement in a triple slaying. State Attorney Jeff Ashton said in a report issued Tuesday that the agent was justified in the shooting of 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev near Orlando last May.

COAST GUARD DOING UNANNOUNCED CRUISE SHIP INSPECTIONS

The U.S. Coast Guard has begun unannounced inspections of cruise ships at ports, targeting vessels that have previously had a pattern of safety problems. Officials described the program Tuesday during the National Transportation Safety Board's first-ever forum on cruise ship safety.

A pregnant South Carolina woman accused of driving her vehicle into the Atlantic Ocean with three small children inside will be allowed to receive in-hospital psychiatric care until a doctor says she can return to jail

BODY CAMERA NOT ON DURING OFFICER SHOOTING

The body camera worn by a slain central Florida police officer was turned off when he stopped two young people on foot and was killed. Homicide detectives had hoped the camera would shed further light into what happened to Windermere Police Officer Robert German. German called for backup and was found shot dead early Saturday in the Orlando suburb. The bodies of the two teens he is believed to have stopped were found nearby.

CONSUMER CONFIDENCE RISING IN FLORIDA

A monthly survey done by the University of Florida shows the state's consumer confidence is rising. In a report issued Tuesday, the group said Florida's consumer confidence was up three points over February's numbers and one of the highest rankings since the Great Recession.
