Accused killer of 3 women to accept plea bargain

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana man already condemned to death for killing a 75-year-old family friend is expected to accept a plea agreement in the 2002 slaying of a Florida woman.

Floyd County prosecutor's office spokeswoman Esther Ragan says a change of plea hearing for William Clyde Gibson is scheduled for Thursday morning.

The plea change is connected to a murder charge against Gibson for the stabbing death of 45-year-old Karen Hodella from Port Orange, Fla.

Gibson was convicted last year of murder in the 2012 slaying of Christine Whitis in New Albany. He also faces a June murder trial in the death of 35-year-old Stephanie Kirk of Charlestown.

Prosecutor Keith Henderson tells WDRB-TV the deal would give Gibson a 65-year sentence for Hodella's death.
