EWING, N.J. (AP) — Authorities still don't know what triggered a gas leak and explosion that devastated a town house development in New Jersey, killing one woman and injuring seven workers.

Officials in Ewing Township, a Trenton suburb, said Wednesday that about 20 homes are uninhabitable.

Mayor Bert Steinmann says the gas line was marked out in the area where a contractor was working Tuesday. Officials don't know what went wrong.

An autopsy is underway on the body of the woman who was discovered on a car near the site of the explosion. They will not release her name until positive identification is made.

Public Service Electric & Gas, who hired the contractor, issued a statement saying it would not comment further until the investigation is complete.
