WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The DUI manslaughter retrial of a South Florida polo mogul has been delayed to give defense lawyers more time to argue pretrial issues.
The Palm Beach Post (http://bit.ly/1k3gnCZ ) reported Monday that a judge decided to postpone until late February at the earliest a second trial for John Goodman in the 2010 death of Scott Patrick Wilson.
Police say Goodman ran a stop sign and rammed Wilson's car, which rolled into a canal. Authorities say Goodman's blood-alcohol level was twice Florida's legal limit.
The judge is also considering a request from defense attorneys and prosecutors to issue a gag order for attorneys and witnesses in the case.
Goodman was convicted last year and sentenced to 16 years in prison, but the conviction was overturned because of juror misconduct.
