Paddle boarders raise funds for animals

October 26, 2013

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A group of paddle boarders, kayakers and more are raising funds to inoculate South Florida animals that may otherwise not be treated.

The Stand-Up For The Pets event will be held on Saturday at the Middle river at George English Park in Fort Lauderdale. Pets - including a pot-bellied pig - are known to accompany their owners on the paddle board for the event.

Participants will hear from Florida's top paddle board professionals who will give tips and demonstrations.

The event will raise funds and awareness for inoculating, spaying and neutering pets that are in need of treatment but can't see a veterinarian due to limited financial resources. Stand-Up For A Cause, the fundraising organization, will provide those treatments to owners of animals in Broward County - at no charge.
