BUENA VISTA, Colo. (AP) — A search team is on its way to recover the bodies of five hikers killed when a rock slide crashed onto a popular, scenic Colorado trail.
About 40 people equipped with ropes, shovels and other tools set out Tuesday for the site below Mount Princeton in south-central Colorado.
Witnesses say boulders the size of cars tumbled onto the trail Monday.
A teenage girl survived and was taken by helicopter to a Denver hospital with a broken leg.
Rescuers were unable to recover the bodies Monday because the rocks were dangerously unstable.
Rescuers will first try to recover four bodies they can reach with hand tools. A huge boulder will have to be shifted to recover the fifth body.
