CRESTVIEW, Fla. (AP) — Two Panhandle police officers are out of their jobs after allegations that they falsified police reports.

Crestview Police Chief Tony Taylor announced the firings on the same day that a third police officer pleaded no contest to a felony charge of tampering with evidence.

The Northwest Florida Daily News ( ) reported Friday that the three officers were key figures in the trial of a former commander in the department who was found guilty in August of racketeering. Taylor told the newspaper that he had no choice but to fire the men because they had lied on official police documents.
