Hit man gets prison for NY, Fla. killings

September 12, 2013
Associated Press

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A hit man who admitted killing a Florida millionaire and his mother has been sentenced to 17½ years behind bars.

The prison term for Alejandro Garcia was well under what federal guidelines prescribed. That's because Garcia cooperated in the prosecution of the millionaire's wife, Narcy Novack.

Novack and her brother were convicted last year of arranging the 2009 killings of Ben Novack Jr. and Bernice Novack.

Ben Novack's father built the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.

Garcia admitted that he helped kill Ben Novack in a New York hotel room and Bernice Novack at her Fort Lauderdale home.
