Dewatering the surface water to ease lime rock mining is devastating for miles around because of saltwater intrusion as fresh water is pumped away. Add to that the rising sea level and u have another (early) manmade Republican crisis.

In my case, I had a surface water option of a creek to carry my business through the ground water recovery, which took years. There were numerous artesian wells in the area turned salty because of dewatering in East Lee Co. This was more than two decades ago, when the draw on the water table was much less. Republican irresponsibility is a death knell for the environment of Fla.
