After watching tonight's council meeting vote, all should now be convinced that this council is bought and paid for by The Dixie Roadhouse & it's affiliates. As I stated days ago, Carioscia knew he had the vote prior to bringing this vote forward. He had 3 of his fellow 3 newbies in his pocket & it showed tonight. The Dixie is an LLC - meaning they have limited liability if and when something some wrong. They can close and open somewhere else without incurring much expense. The tax payers of Cape Coral will be on the hook if and when something goes wrong. Nice to see that 1 councilmen had the guts to standup for public safety.

Because The Dixie LLC has been generous with campaign donations. What Carioscia is seeking is to eventually grant them 4am and make it permanent. Where else can you roll out of bed in lounge pants and walk into either of the 2 bars & fit right in without anyone giving you a weird look? Everywhere else in SW Florida, you dress up to go out because you actually care about how you look. To bad this is NOT the case in Cape Coral. This will hold us back from becoming a destination town. We will be known as home to dive bars.

Why do a select few whiskey joints get catered to by a handful of council? The stench of tobacco smoke and general lack of any realm of ambience would keep any sober person from entering Pippin's place regardless of hours. The two other Queens of 47th, Shelly and Joanne, each have their own brands and issues. Shelly business plan has been very succcesful for many years and I doubt she really needs an extra hour. Joanne's business plan does not target what Lee County has to offer after midnight as potential customers. So what is an extra hour going to bring them? I think its their support of their friend Pippin who is suffering and is the push behind this idea. Well Lynn, clean the joint up bleach out the walls and celings of the tobacco stench, clean the AC ducts and maybe try adding some ambience and you wont need to solicit late night business and become the de facto Cape Bottle Club.

Rocco - research would suggest the answer to your question is no as overtime pay is capped.

OVERVIEW: Dixie Roadhouse will, via social media, request that their loyal patrons rush to Monday's council meeting to show that they are in support of the extra drinking hours. DAWH.. No different that when you tell your children or grandchildren to pickup their toys and you will allow them stay out & play another hour. Then you will have council tell you how difficult this decision is. IMHO - Public safety should trump granting extra hours to a bar that has generously donated to our council members election campaigns. Of course the CRA has unanimously showed it's support. Lynn Pippinger, owner of The Dixie Roadhouse, sat with them on the CRA Board. She is a personal friend of theirs. The Dixie Roadhouse has had more altercations/issues that required police presence than any of the other bars! With all the construction going on in the CRA, what about "SAFETY FIRST"?

QUOTE "Taxpayers home in bed in the wee hours should not have to subsidize another round served to those still out and about". -- My sentiments exactly!!! Why are we being forced to pay for 2 bars to reap in profits? What price do you place on a life being taken or permanently altered from a DUI. "Most dangerous time on the roads, especially weekend is midnight to 3:00am, followed by 3 to 6 am." -- As the saying goes "Nothing good happens after 12 midnight". Let's all watch Monday's charade of a council meeting.

Does the roughly $160,000 in overtime pay for the first year include any increases to pension liabilities which are paid for a lifetime?
