Lawmajor: It is my understanding that our current Mayor is supporting Joe Coviello for our new Mayor. Not sure how true this may be, but I trust my sources.

I'm just thankful that there a few good individuals out there that are willing to jump in to restore Cape Coral's image, have skin in the game & are genuinely concerned with the future of Cape Coral. IMHO There are only 3 of the 7 that I would even consider. I'm looking forward to leaning more about them. Dan Sheppard is definitely in the running. I have watched him at council meetings where he was able to compose himself while being on the receiving end of our Mayor's wrath. One thing for certain, Marni will not be voting for Dan and/or Erbrick! If I had to guess, she's all in for her Liberal colleague April. The next few months should be interesting.

I am disappointed in the lack of focus on basic issues of city government by most of the candidates. Had this been a primary interview for a management position, I don't think more than 10% would be called back for a second interview. I hope that they all mature through the candidate process to understand the basics of the positions they are running for. If they don't, the city deserves what it elects. JMHO

Refreshing comments from John Karcher: "As VP of the Northwest Neighborhood Assoc, I have heard TOO MANY residents say, "Why speak at citizens input, they already have made their decision." We need to "Listen to the People" + have more transparency in our City Government. I believe I can help accomplish that by using the skills that I have honed in my career in business management & sales over the past 34 years. Listening to BOTH sides to determine the best course of action is paramount. It is important to remember that the Council serves at the "Pleasure of the Citizens of Cape Coral." -- AMEN. He has my vote!

The preponderance of Politicians of ANY stripe are just THAT : Politicians -- namely, One of those who seek by subterfuge, stealth and teflon-tongues to convince you that they serve your interests -- All the while that they serve their own and those of their clients.

The child-like inclinations and imaginations of too many voters prevent them from seeing this and they continue to live in a cozy, warm and fuzzy blankey of Conservatude, serving their "deserving" masters.

Researchers have found that such inclinations are, with about 80% certainty, predictable via a study of the brain structure of the subject -- So, too many voters likely can not help themselves -- nor likely I, either. . Thus, we are pawns of our genetic profiles.
