They didn't have any guaranteed developers on board before this article ran & now that everyone knows the truth about the Bimini Basin, nobody in their right mind is going to jump onboard. Who's going to open a restaurant on the water with human feces floating. Pretty gross & disgusting. Those dilapidated sailboats which call the Bimini Basin home, are NOT going anywhere soon and it now appears that Cape Coral has no jurisdiction over who/what is anchored in the water over there. You think they would have checked this out before throwing more money at this project. What about that project manager they recently hired??? Didn't he think that it might be a wise idea to see how difficult it was going to be to remove those sail boats from the basin. You just can't make this crap us!

Lawmajor I saw that report and it was indeed disgusting!

For the City to do nothing is even more disgusting.

The City cares nothing for it's residents and taxpayer. They just want your tax money. Shameful to say the least.

Thanks to Fox 4 news, we now have FACTS on the Bimini Basin. A must watch news report aired Wednesday, May 17th, 10:00PM news on the Bimini Basin. It is also the current lead story on their website this morning. Water tests done in Bimini Basin have proven that Bimini Basin is a cesspool. Human feces is extremely prevalent. City Hall is attempting to brush it under the rug stating that swimming is NOT permitted in the water. So our "Gem of a Jewel" is a cesspool. Nothing more than a TOILET! What can you expect from our Mayor's Pet Project!!! Totally Disgusting! Water tests done by a lab show levels at 108. At 60, signs should be posted to warn people of the dangers of even wading in the water, as children often do. The report will make your stomach turn.

Although I appreciate everyone wanting to make Cape Coral a better place, it is best to gather "all of the facts possible" before making judgements i.e. a picture which "appears" to see someone "loitering on property". It is easy to pick out what we "think" is happening. It is best to wait to gather "all" of the information necessary to come to conclusions. In addition we need to broaden our scope of where we want to be and how to get there and do it "together". If we continue to widen the gap between us, we will never achieve anything. This is just my opinion and only my opinion which worth ????

Lolita - QUOTE "WE ARE CAPE CORAL. Be proud of it." - I too love Cape Coral. Unfortunately, Cape Coral has taken a big hit + our Mayor has vastly contributed to the problem with her numerous escapades. While at a doctors appointment today, I picked up a AARP Bulletin news publication dated May 2017, AARP****/Bulletin Vol. 58, No. 4. On page 6, the topic is "Road Deaths Rise for Older Americans" and it lists the 5 most dangerous places to reside, along with the safest place. Cape Coral if #1 on the 5 MOST DANGEROUS places to reside. The pot smoking capital of the USA, Colorado-Springs, CO ranks the safest place. Yes, Cape Coral is being recognized, but not always for the right reasons. We need to correct that. Cape Coral is a great place to live, we just need the right people at the helm and currently, that is NOT the case. I also believe that certain city employees need to be monitored and disciplined if necessary. No more double standard for City Hall.

Lolita - Beside the impromptu hand written comments by "City Employees", there are actual pictures of Dawn Andrews loitering around, as well as physically walking around inside the Bunch property which has a "No Trespassing sign" clearly posted. Are you insinuating that city employees are EXEMPT from rules/laws? This is NOT an isolated incident. It has recently been discovered that an ex-city employee was permitted (by our Mayor) to enter through back entrance, take the staff/council member elevator & by-pass the metal detectors. Rules/Laws should not be optional, depending on if you are a current or past city employee. Talk about double standards. Where's the transparency that was promised by current council???? What is good for the goose, is good for the gander!

Lolita - My take on Monday's meeting was confirmation that Dawn Andrews should face consequences for her "less than professional behavior" in regards to the Bunch Family debacle. Her hand written comments on some of those transcripts warrant her being fired. This women comes off as high and mighty, just like our Mayor. It really has to STOP. This is what happens when ones job goes to their heads. A little bit of power in the wrong hands brings the results we are seeing too often here in Cape Coral. Visibly, there is an apparent "Power Struggle" going on, on the dais.

What did Monday's meeting bring. Two Council members who jumped on a question raised by a citizen concerning a seated Council Member, running for office, and when that member has to resign, etc. I would have thought that all council members would be well aware of the rules, especially some who were appointed and then ran for the position. This is like watching a bad TV program. This was followed by another citizen who wants us to "be like Fort Myers". Really....not on your life. Just watch on TV and read in the local papers all of the issues they have. WE ARE CAPE CORAL. Be proud of it.

QUOTE "When will this travesty of a mayor just go away?" - That is the million dollar question! Until then, we must watch her like a hawk and report to the media each and every time she over steps her boundaries. It's important that we call her out for her blatant abuse of power. Social media has always been Marni's tool of choice, so let's use it to bring her down to size. No more freebies! Keep her under a microscope. She preached "transparency", so be it!

Rosko is spot on. Just one more example of the mayor and her arrogance. She has tried to decimate the charter schools, has battled LCEC leaders in a public meeting, has used her power to call police chief during a 911 call, has been essentially kicked out from Ft. Myers Beach council meetings, has filed restraining order against a man who then became her husband and then divorced and then reconciled with, and I will not even go into her financial issues that are currently being investigated. When will this travesty of a mayor just go away?

Lolita - Looks like we are all on the same page when it comes to our Mayor's continued abuse of power. Let's see what Monday's council meeting brings. 2 weeks ago it was Marni's outburst and then last week Marni's boyfriend Ken Retzer took his turn in attempt to top Marni's. If he plans on attending Monday's meeting, he should be forced to enter through the front door & should be ask to walk through the metal detector. It might be wise for Marni to print out a copy of The Pledge of Civility as both he/she apparently didn't hear it being read last week. Also, another outburst and/or threat from him should result in him being ban from council meetings. Rules are rules, NO exceptions for retired city workers.

That elevator is to be used by Council and/or staff ONLY. No excuses for anyone else to be coming up that way. However, who will have the courage to enforce it.

netransplant - Sorry to inform you, BUT Rosko is absolutely right. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander! There are rules that must be enforced in Council Chambers an they should NOT DIFFER, regardless of what side of the podium one is seated. It's due time you learned how to call a Spade a Spade. Bottom line: Your princess Marni can NOT pick and choose when to enforce rules. She has once again proven that she is incapable of presiding over council meetings. It's time for her to step down.

QUOTE "Miss Marni actually had the speaker at citizens input that Retzer threatened removed from the room and not Retzer for his violent behavior!" - SO.. How is this NOT a double standard?? Wasn't it Marni who claimed that she "Treats everyone the same"?? She threw-out a dying man in a wheelchair but she couldn't bear to ask her boyfriend to leave. I'd LOVE to hear a VALID explanation as to why Retzer was permitted to stay in council chambers after his outburst! ANYONE???? Why didn't anyone else on council DEMAND that he be thrown out??? At least there was one gentlemen in the chambers that had the balls to approach the podium & call Marni out. Kudos to him.

You shouldn't have watered down your point by adding that the council shouldn't sidestep security either. It distracted from the real issue of Marni's abuse of power.

"The mayor's ex-husband again displayed an anger management issue during the Council Meeting. He THREATENED a speaker during Citizens Input & was restrained by those sitting around him." -- So WHY then was he permitted to remain in council chambers after disrupting the meeting?? I've NEVER seen that happen before! He should have been thrown out! I've witnessed our Mayor order the CCPD to escort a dying man, on oxygen in a wheelchair out of council chambers because he used the word "Mayor" & she reprimanded him + told him that he had to address the council as a whole. That man could barely speak & was entering hospice that week. All he wanted was to speak one last time & Marni won't give him the time of day. If her actions that evening didn't bother each & everyone that watched, then they DO NOT have a heart!

"the Mayor allows her ex-husband to ride up in this private elevator along with another female, thus avoiding the metal detectors." - I find this disturbing, as this time last year, not only did our Mayor obtained a restraining order against him, but she also had his guns taken away from him because "She feared him + feared what he would do to her". She claimed that he stocked her + threatened to ruin her. Her words!! Obviously, he has anger management issues which surfaced again in Oct/Nov 2016 when he (a ex Leut with the CCFD) + Marni choose to ABUSE our 911 system when they were having a quarrel + he broke her phone. If anyone should be required to go through the metal detector, it should definitely be him! Are there NO rules in place for boyfriends & girlfriends being permitted to enter the council chambers through the back door & utilizing the staff elevator?
