Does anyone else recall the plane full of puppies from...God only knows where, recently brought into Naples? Nice idea, but I know that these puppies are most often NOT vetted, vaccinated or quarantined. This contributes not only to the mis-named pet overpopulation, but more importantly to infectious diseases. And please don't forget heartworm prevention. While many medications can be expensive, liquid Ivermectin costs $20 for a bottle that will last a long time. I treat 2 large dogs and 3 cats on one bottle for four months. It is a very affordable option to prevent heartworm, as well as all the other parasites that can make your pet sick.
