IMHO, this was slated to be part of the Build Out in the City.It really is time to stop this "Not in my backyard" and Move this City forward. How are we going to substain the 300,000 people projected to move here. The VA Clinic is the "SPEARHEAD" to make this happen.

Actually, when we save greenspace we are ensuring tourists will continue to come to our area. Right now, I counted four empty storefronts on one block of Del Prado. Do we really want to create more sprawl? A greenspace such as this is an asset. I recently met some birders-tourists from Europe and all over the United States. They asked me where they could go to see wildlife and birds. As long as areas like Sanibel have more greenspace-they will get more tourist dollars. Conserving green space is ensuring green for our economy!

Green space? Look at all our parks current and those not even completed, ie. Festival Park. Look at your past tax bills? 20/20 land fund paid to Lee County each and every year. Fifty cents on every dollar of your tax assessed value paid into a fund to preserve land. However not one single cent spent in Cape Coral. Now if one of our councilmen was correct the city as of last year has paid Lee County $577 million into that 20/20 fund and received NOTHING in this city for our contributions. Evidently they felt we could pay into that fund and DUPLICATE the effort by paying more tax to buy and develop our own green space. You want green space go across the river you and I have bought millions over there and get to pay for the bridges on the way back. SUCH A DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!
