Linda53: Here is the main problem. This area is zoned residential, not business. We also have laws on the books concerning loud music. There is a place for this and it is not in a residential neighborhood.

Grumpy, the problem is all of the Cape is residential, so something has to give. We can't just be a giant suburb. The city will not thrive if that is the case. The church is doing a good thing. Let's give it a chance.

Haninginthere: you don't know me and always make derogatory remarks when I post something. If you have nothing constructive to say, keep your comments to yourself. I like concerts and other things too. I am not concerned about anything you mentioned either.

A park. A park. My kingdom for a park!

Festival Park, Amphitheater Park. BASEBALL PARK.

The city spent a lot of money on a venue type park for various events such as music.

The city missed the boat on construction of a Major League Baseball Park. Reasons given too much traffic, too expensive, only used for a short period of time each year. Some other reason illogical at best. We might not want to get involved with a National Corporation like Major League Baseball? Look at the failures in the Cactus League in the Southwest? The sport may be short lived and just a fad? We would rather set our star on Hula Hoops or Leisure Suits. We would rather force the development of a Swim Complex with a phantom board of directors, no money to put up to build the facility. (The wanna be resident backers did not even want to pursue this after they found out the developers were a myth). This weekend we have a Jazz & Blues Fest being held at Westin which I do not hold that against that new b

contd. They should promote and be promoted by the city. But it is an event that would be better served by being held at a park. Here is the rub if there are two parks. Which one? Festival Park or the Amphitheater Park? Who gets the business to support payment and upkeep of the park? Why cannibalize potential business? Why not promote the hotel, restaurant, marina business in a way to provide what the park couldn't. A place to stay, have meals and beverage, have docking for boaters wanting a destination, etc., etc. Also just a sidebar what about the band shell at Four Freedoms Park? It could be another venue for music and the ailing CRA district? How much land was taken off the tax rolls for Festival Park? This being an investment do you ever see the tax dollars coming back to pay us for this venture? When? Once again a plan that is a figment of a few wild imaginations.
