Fund school safety

To the editor: This is about guns and students bringing them to school. We already had three or four stories that we were told about — guns on a school bus or in different schools in Lee County....

So, some of you want to rely on other parents’ parenting skills to keep your kid safe. Good luck with that. I would rather see some extra funds allocated towards security and have law enforcement in every school.

We already have "police" in schools. Your cost number on soundproofing is wrong; it was done in-house. And the fact that parents need to be part of the solution is exactly correct.

Although I agree we should have a law enforcement presence in our schools, (which we already do, by the way). The example you highlight to justify it makes no sense. If guns are brought aboard the bus, law enforcement at the school does not aid in discovering such a violation. What do we do now using your example, put an officer on every bus too??!! I don't think so, it's time for parents to start doing their job and raising their kids with respect for dignity and human life. It doesn't take a village, it takes good parenting.

I totally agree! It is a small price to pay and would increase security and safety tremendously.
