KC’s River Stop, let’s finally tell it like it is

February 16, 2013

To the editor: Well, like myself, I’m sure many others witnessed the resident turn out on Monday, Feb. 11, in support of attempting to persuade the city into renewing KC’s lease....

Thank your for putting the truth out there. The Yacht Club is a jewel of this City and has not been given the chance to become even better.Betty should get her presentation ready just as the others, for council to review.Everyone needs to write their council person and explain why KC should be replaced or else they will bow to the international emails that was sent to them in the last few days. After all,we have a voice in this matter too

Good observation, I have in the past patronized KCs River stop and quite frankly found the food offered and served there rather plain and a bit overpriced. Nothing special about it, The atmosphere is provided by nature, not KC's. I am not sure whether the rent charged them is high, reasonable or a deal. I do know that it is up to the city to set a fair rent for the location and I hope they do their homework on that count. After that, it's up to the current operator and any other potential operator to submit a proposal that offers the city and the citizens a good mix of food, profit for the city and a reasonable profit for the operator. No subsidies, just plain capitalism. Whats fair for the retailer on Del Prado, Cape Coral Parkway or Pine Island Rd. should be the same at the Yacht Club.

Your letter is well written and your point is well taken. So I guess it should follow that this business if subsidized will cease. Thus the other businesses in Cape Coral need to begin to pay all their true expense for trash pick up, sewer charges and whatever other services we don't know about? I more than think you are correct in your observations.
