To the editor: Adrian Rodgers said that when half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work, because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the......

The comment was incorrect when Flip Flopney made it and, Dick, it's wrong when you repeat it.

Packer, I'm sure you know the "47% taker" figure came straight out of Romney's mouth during a campaign dinner for big donors, a place where he felt safe enought to say what he really thinks, a place where he thought none of us peons would ever hear about his insulting remarks. No one has ever been able to explain that interesting little tidbit, not even Romney. And you're right about the skin thang . . . sad, but true.

Netransplant, that is hilarious! Combined with the devastation that Jesus is most likely not the bright white version we humans have portrayed him. It could be a tough blow to be handed the punishment you described from a black Jesus.

Maybe you should hit the bottle AFTER you write your comments, not before.

Don’t be so hard on Dick! His idiotic rants are actually funny. The best comedy comes from people that think they are smart but are really an idiot. I usually get a least a chuckle out of Dick’s letters. You just have to realize when someone is a bumbling idiot they really can’t help what they do so I guess that makes Dick a little special.

I envision the moment Kalfus arrives at the Pearly Gates and is told that he will spend the first half of eternity in purgatory for disobeying God for judging others.

I have heard this 47% since the election. No one has ever cited the stats or what they consist of. Is it possible that Romney was considering retirees in his 47% or disabled Vets?

As I read this weeks LTE from you Dick. I couldn't help but wonder if it simply isn't the color of our Presidents skin that scares you. If that were true that is sad indeed.

“Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the mind so that individuals could rise from the bondage of myths and half-truths to the unfettered realm of creative analysis and objective appraisal, so must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind of tension in society that will help men rise from the dark depths of prejudice and racism to majestic heights of understanding and brotherhood.” ? Here's what I wish someone would explain. If 47% of Americans are "takers," then how did it happen that Romney ended up with 47% of the popular vote in November? Just coincidence? Just wondering.

And, Kalfus, all your ranting and raving about this being a Christian country (it's not), that believing God will bless us only if we post the 10 Commandments in City Hall (don't think so) - all that nonsense you spew week after week - none of it makes an RA worth of difference. Some advice from Abraham Lincoln: Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Frederic Bastiat quotes: When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.
