January 19, 2013

To the editor: If the Cape Coral City Council wishes to show that it truly values “democracy and morality,” as Mr. Dick Kalfus suggested in his Jan....

Mr. Kalfus writes always this kind of article. It sounds to me like some “witch hunter ”from mid evil time came back from the graveyards? I don’t know how old this person is but to me it sounds like he is “too old”? I will not believe that ANY democratic thinking person (whatever party member) pays any kind of attention to this fanatic written grease that comes out of his religious? grease gun? Sometimes you would think to sad that we have such unregulated freedom of speech? You just open your newspaper to get some news & information and then accidentally you read this kind of “trash”. If this Dick K. would represent only 1-10% of public opinion, I would suggest it is time for major changes here. I hope and expect that he is the only one or just one miserable person that tries to force his fanatic guidelines over other people free spirit & freedom. We shall not be quiet and we will not let him or any other of this kind manipulate our freedom and way of life. Thanks for your

Not only should council ignore Kalfus, but everyone else should do the same, as he's not worth listening to in any way. The old coot needs to get a life.

Don't worry, the majority. On council know that Kalfus isn't dealing with 52 cards! The man is filled with racial hate!

Oh, come now, folks. Kalfus is so freakin' amusing I can't help myself. But, if you're serious about shutting him up, then perhaps you should stop reacting/commenting. That's what gets him going. BTW, he's fairly long in the tooth and may have some related subliminal visions of grandeur, so give the poor man a break.

Far be it from me to ride in to the rescue of Dick Kalfus, a man with whom I differ greatly on the way individuals should worship, but it seems to me that many here only believe in freedom of speech when it suits their own belief system, be it secular, or some other religion outside of DK's. These same people are seeking to actively silence a citizen of The United States of America, where freedom of speech is a right. If you don't like what he has to say, then do what I do, pay him no mind. But under no circumstances silence him, for once we begin to slide down this slippery slope who knows who may be next. It could possibly be one of you.

EngagedPeopleForAnHonestFlorida, One line in your initial post says all anyone needs to know about you and your organization. That line is as follows; "Sometimes you would think to sad that we have such unregulated freedom of speech". Ok, class is now in session. If you regulate speech, it is no longer free speech. Got that........****rade!
