Obamacare, Van Jones, The Flag
September 4, 2009 - Ben Feldman
I phoned Senator Bill Nelson"s office a few weeks ago to get an idea when he might mingle with the people at a Town Hall gathering. The answer, he was on a Senatorial overseas trip. Of course, he was fact finding. Politicians have the sublime life. Indeed, sublime and priveledged. But their behavior, well, that's another article. So, Nelson had no schedule when I called and as for his meeting the people----I don't think he did. Nothing like hiding under a desk or, in this case, under Europe. Well, all the leaders are back now, some bruised and others unscathed by hiding. As for Obamacare, it looks like it is aspirating along with Obama's approval rating. And then there is the recent flap over this advisor to Obama named Van Jones who said he was an avowed communist. Now we have had communists and socialists before in government. Nothing is pure, not even our politicians, so that is not a surprise. But what is egregious and contemptible is Jones signing a letter with a group, called the Truthers, that claimed 911 was an inside job of our government so that it could wreak mayhem and murder. THIS IS UNCONSCIONABLE and reckless rhetoric. In full disclosure, I have not seen the evidence proving his complicity. But Fox news carried the story. My question is what kind of people does Obama associate with? Disraeli, the former prime minister of England, once said, "Nothing in politics is contemptible." Except the politician, I added. Another Obama sideshow is his school talk. Why is the President asking these kids what he inspires and what he has done to them? It is to the flag we owe our allegiance, and the country. We are inspired not because of Chairman Obama but because of our history, our flag, our country. August has been unkind to the President. Let him kindly remove his Obamacare fantasy from our midst. In fact, ponder this, Why not have the politicians give us their plan? We pay for it?
